Fleetwise Standard Operating Procedure for Tyre Fitment
1. Purpose
The purpose of this Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is to establish a consistent and professional standard for tyre inspection, supply, fitment, and associated services performed on vehicles maintained under Fleetwise management.
2. Scope
This SOP applies to all approved tyre suppliers undertaking tyre-related services for Fleetwise-maintained vehicles including
- tyre replacements
- repairs
- wheel balancing
- wheel alignments
- tyre rotations
- roadside assistance
- tyre inspections.
- tread depth (see Appendix 1 – Tyre Selection Guidance for further details)
- wear patterns
- sidewall condition
- punctures
- tyre age
- potential steering or suspension concerns.
- evidence as per the tyre inspection assessment above
- pro-forma invoice detailing the costs of the replacement tyre(s), fitting, balancing and any additional costs associated with the replacement.
3. Supplier Responsibilities
Approved tyre suppliers are required to carry out all work in a safe, professional, and compliant manner while ensuring recommendations are evidence-based, commercially reasonable, and aligned with manufacturer and NZTA requirements.
4. Tyre Inspection & Assessment
Suppliers must complete a full tyre inspection and report the following to Fleetwise prior to recommending tyre replacement or additional work:
Wheel alignments should only be recommended where justified by uneven wear, steering pull, suspension repairs, or evident alignment concerns following tyre fitment.
5. Tyre Fitment Standards
Tyre brand selection
Suppliers should refer to Appendix 1 – Tyre Selection Guidance for the recommended tyre brand applicable for each customer. Any variations to the guidance will be provided by Fleetwise on a case-by-case basis.
Balancing and torquing
Wheels must be balanced and torqued to the manufacturer’s specification.
6. Approval Requirements
Where a supplier determines tyre replacement is required, the supplier must provide
On receipt of the proforma invoice, Fleetwise will review the proposed costs and evidence and advise next steps.
7. Emergency Tyre Assistance
In roadside or urgent situations, suppliers are expected to minimise vehicle downtime while ensuring all temporary repairs or substitutions remain safe and compliant.
8. Quality Assurance & Compliance
Fleetwise reserves the right to periodically review supplier performance, including workmanship quality, adherence to approved processes, accuracy of invoicing, and customer feedback, to ensure ongoing compliance with Fleetwise standards.
9. Review & Amendments
Fleetwise reserves the right to amend or update this SOP at any time to reflect operational, safety, compliance, or commercial requirements.
Appendix 1 - Tyre Selection Guidance
The following table should be used to determine the appropriate replacement tyre brand for Fleetwise-maintained vehicles. Fleetwise will advise any variations to the guidelines below, or whether an alternative brand may be appropriate on a case-by-case basis.
